Co-Regulatory Forum 2014
Gas Industry Co hosts an annual Co-Regulatory Forum at which it presents its first proposals for the ensuing year’s work programme and associated budget. It is the start of a longer consultation process that culminates with the publication of Gas Industry Co’s Statement of Intent and a recommendation to the Minister for the annual levy regulations. The Co-Regulatory Forum provides industry stakeholders with an early opportunity to comment on the proposed work programme and to provide input into discussions around areas of priority focus. These discussions lead to the production of a Statement of Proposal on the intended work programme, strategy and budget which gives stakeholders a further opportunity for comment.
2014 Co-Regulatory Forum
Gas Industry Co has now started preparing its Work Programme and Budget for the year ending 30 June 2016 (FY2016) and updating our Statement of Intent, covering the financial years 2016-2018. These two processes aim to capture the strategic goals and the work activities for Gas Industry Co to deliver on our role as the industry body, in essence:
- seeking competition, efficiency and reliability in the delivery of gas to consumers;
- reporting effectively on the current state and performance of the gas industry; and
- meeting the other goals and requirements set out in Part 4A of the Gas Act 1992 and the Government Policy Statement on Gas Governance 2008.
The Work Programme is also the basis for assessing the levy that, together with market fees, funds our activities in FY2016. The co-regulatory model relies on industry input in developing the FY2016 proposals.
Our initial proposals for FY2016 were discussed at our annual Co-Regulatory Forum on Friday 28 November 2014. You can view the presentation slides below.
We have since published a formal Statement of Proposal that provides stakeholders with the opportunity to make detailed submissions. These are due 5 February 2015. The Statement of Proposal can be found here.
